An Interview with Anton Gorelov, Co-founder & CTO of MyTutor.io: Building the Future of AI-Powered Education

We sat down with Anton to discuss the journey behind MyTutor.io, the technology powering it, and how Compute with Hivenet’s infrastructure has helped scale their AI-driven platform.

Q. Can you tell us about MyTutor.io’s platform and what you’ve built?

Anton: "At MyTutor.io, me and my brother Artem, developed an AI tutoring platform tailored to the IGCSE, A-Level, and IB curricula - with plans to expand into the French, US systems and beyond. Our approach is collaborative: we work closely with teachers to refine every course before our AI begins tutoring. We integrate the most effective large language models available along with vision models, audio transcription, and soon, voice interaction capabilities. This allows students to navigate their courses, track their progress, and get answers in an interface that is both textbook-like and interactive.

What really sets us apart is our dynamic, personalized ‘live textbook’ for each student. Our advanced analytics module reviews every conversation, test, and piece of learning material, creating a continuous feedback loop. At the heart of our system is ‘Quark’ - our proprietary intellectual property - which records detailed notes for every student across each unit and topic. Quark then uses this information to provide tailored support via chat and dynamic prompts."

Q. What inspired you to take up this project?

Anton: "My journey began when I worked as an IT manager and systems administrator at an international school - a place where I’d once been a student. It was there that I noticed firsthand the gaps in traditional classroom support, especially during the transformative moments when GPT-3 and GPT-3.5 were emerging. Being young and learning on the job, I gained the critical insight needed to identify the opportunities to improve and empower the educational system. I realized that if AI could help me manage complex tasks like server administration and G Suite configuration, it could also bridge the gap for students when a teacher wasn’t available.

Back in March 2022, inspired by these insights, I envisioned a classroom without a physical teacher - one where an ‘e-teacher’ could step in seamlessly on a TV screen, deliver interactive exercises, and engage the entire class while staying aligned to the syllabus. However, turning that vision into reality required more than just technical know-how and a clear understanding of the challenges. My brother was instrumental in making this happen. With his strong background in business and marketing, he not only encouraged me but also brought invaluable expertise to the table. His extensive network of talented developers, designers, and professionals in organizational and business management helped transform MyTutor.io from a simple idea into a robust proof of concept and eventually a production-ready platform.

Together, our combined experiences have been fundamental to MyTutor.io’s success. My practical, on-the-ground insights into the challenges of traditional education, paired with his strategic acumen in branding, scaling, and managing operations, have enabled us to create a platform that is now helping hundreds of students. This collaborative effort has been key to turning our initial vision into a dynamic, AI-powered tutoring solution that truly addresses the needs of modern learners."

Q. What distinguishes your platform from competitors, such as students simply using ChatGPT for studying?

Anton: "The key differentiator is Quark. Unlike generic agent-based systems like ChatGPT, our platform offers a unique, relatable interface where Quark adapts its style and tone to meet each student’s needs. Beyond its engaging character, Quark is supported by a robust analytics layer that monitors student progress in a very targeted way. We’re actively collaborating with international schools as part of the Globeeducate group to fine-tune our algorithms.

With MyTutor.io, students don’t just chat with an AI, they gain a comprehensive overview of their progress. They receive detailed explanations of what they’ve learned, what areas need improvement, and personalized recommendations on how to advance their knowledge."

Q. How has the platform been received, and what’s next for MyTutor.io?

Anton: "So far, we’ve onboarded over 550 students, and the response has been incredibly encouraging. Based on user feedback, we’re now focusing on developing a mobile app to make our platform even more accessible. We’ve also implemented key features like image recognition for file uploads and course restructuring on the teacher’s side, as well as robust course generation and management tools.

Our commitment to constant improvement means we’re always refining our system and addressing bugs to keep the experience responsive. Looking ahead, our broader vision is to expand into underdeveloped countries - opening schools, providing devices, and ensuring that quality education is accessible to every child - globally. We believe that the more communities we can empower through education, the more opportunities will open up worldwide."
